Looks pretty good for Venus to stay in the top 24. But hopefully Serena/Marion/Vika take care of business in their next matches just to be safe.

So Shvedova and Arvidsson are out, meaning that there are only six contenders left to snatch seeds number 23 and 24. Here are the following matches of each of them:

Zakopalova vs Bartoli
Pavlyuchenkova vs Kerber
Stephens vs Serena
Barthel vs Larsson
Lisicki vs Azarenka
Hantuchova vs Gadjosova/Tsurenko

I think Zakopalova and Barthel will survive, and to a certain point maybe Pavlyuchenkova. I'm not trusting Marion to take out Zakopalova, but I have faith on her. Kerber was a mess against Puig and barely won the match with Monica missing that forehand at the net at 5-5 in the tiebreak, but Pavlyuchenkova plays an aggressive game and Kerber feeds on pace. Serena should dismiss Sloane for Venus. Barthel will probably expose Larsson's backhand and will go deep in the draw. Azarenka should also dismiss Lisicki. Hantuchova, although I like her, really has a long shot to get a seed.

I say we get people who haven't created grand slam threads (like me! ) do RG and Wimbledon. Y'all multiple creators are bad luck!
(dunno if anyone who said they wanted to do any of the grand slam threads have created them before. I'm just saying :P )

Now hold that pose for me

Re: Venus Whips Out the Water Color and Blue Hair To Claim Daphne

Hantuchova and Barthel are out due to points for winning title would not be enough to pass Vee and Vika knocked Sabine out.

Zakopalova, Stephens, and Pavlyuchenkova remain.

Zakopalova needs Shenzhen Final.
Palvyuchenkova needs Brisbane Final.
Stephens needs Brisbane Final.

I haven't created any of the GS thread, so RG is mine! And I won't give it to anyone!

Look, this isn't about jynxs or bad luck, it's about creativity and ellaboration on each cheering thread. Venus is 32, has sjogren's and hasn't won a Singles Slam since 2008 so it's really tough that one of her cheering threads supposedly elevates her towards the coveted Slam. We don't care about that because we want our threads to excel, and we want to push ourselves as much as she does in all four Slams each year. If I just wanted to have a cheering thread and have a perfect record with each of them, then I would always play safe and pick those tournaments I "think" she is supposed to win. Wimbledon is mine, I'm not backing off even if she looks dead tired. [/OFF passive-aggresive]

^ A paragraph just for a cheering thread,

Re: Venus Whips Out the Water Color and Blue Hair To Claim Daphne

drama over cheering threads
Majestic, Uranium and Maddy have raised the bar when it comes to creating the cheering threads. I thought coming up with an interesting thread title was hard but these guys track down pictures from 1998 and really do add their own touch to it. Though I understand where Jessie is coming from, guess whoever calls it first and creates the thread first is the winner

I am pretty sure one of them is almost a guarantee. But Bartoli? You never know.

Maybe the first time I've ever cheered for her (apart from SF of Wimbledon a few years back)
