A clearer version of the Olympics schedule since it looks 500x worse on the website.

This is if Venus were to enter all 3 events. Obviously we can most likely take mixed out of this.
Quote:
Saturday/Sunday will be R1 singles and doubles.
Monday/Tuesday will be R2 singles and doubles.
Wednesday will be R16 singles, QF doubles, R1 mixed.
Thursday will be QF singles, SF doubles, QF mixed
Friday will be SF singles, SF mixed
Saturday will be F singles
Sunday will be F doubles, F mixed

Venus would be stupid to play all three.

Mixed would be good on the 1% chance that she has another early round flop in singles.

But it's a tough situation. I can't see the USTA leaving 1 mixed spot undecided until the last minute. Lisa/Mike will obviously play together, but will the USTA hold a spot open for Venus until Sunday to see if she's still alive in singles? What ever team they end up picking (either Liezel/Bob, Venus/Bob, Serena/Bob, or Serena/Andy I assume).... I imagine they'd want to give them adequate time to practice and train together. So that's why it would be dangerous for them to wait on Venus.

Venus won't be playing Mixed Doubles. She clearly knows how much effort Singles & Doubles is, even when she was healthy, so why would she play all three of them at her "Goal" event of the year?

I am not expecting another first round loss. Now she has match play on grass so she won't be going out that easily. I am positive she will bring it in Singles and Doubles; however, if she feels like she can't win on Singles like in the FO, then she's not going anywhere.

About WTT, this is one of those years that I'm very happy that she plays it. She needs some relaxed sets so that will be good for her.

Bring it!

Go big or go home

Only 2 teams get selected for Mixed right? So if Lisa gets one spot then one of the sisters will be chosen? I can't imagine both Venus and Serena playing doubles

I don't care about gold in mixed anymore anyway

Mixed Doubles will go to Lisa & Serena or Leizel.

And if Venus had wanted to play all three that would be her business.
She knows what is best for her.

Personally, I don't think mixed doubles should be in the competition.
Only a 16 team draw? And crammed in for what? And given it England with
the rain forecast even with all playing best of three and one roofed court?

I don't think so, but whatever.

Nice to hear...

Ben Rothenberg ‏@BenRothenberg
Venus may have good days and bad days now, but this definitely looks like a good day. Punishing Butorac's serve from inside the baseline.

Lost 0-5 to Falconi in singles. Apparently her serve was garbage.

Venus/Anastasia Rodionova def. Gullickson-Eagle/Falconi 5-1
Falconi def. Venus 5-0

It was great until the singles You better kick Martina's trashy coked up ass on Saturday, Vee.

Why does she do well in the doubles but serve is shit during the singles?

Venus Williams loses Olympic tuneup singles match

The Associated Press – 1 hour 9 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Venus Williams lost an Olympic tuneup Monday during a World Team Tennis match attended by first lady Michele Obama.

Williams, playing for the Washington Kastles, lost 5-0 to the Boston Lobsters' Irina Falconi in the women's singles portion of the match. In the best-of-five games format, Williams - ranked No. 68 - struggled with her serve, double-faulting several times to the 85th-ranked Falconi.

Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia, who entered Kastles Stadium to applause, saw Williams help the Kastles to 5-1 mixed doubles and 5-1 women's doubles victories, but left before Williams lost her singles match.

''I think I just cooled down, and I couldn't quite get started back up again,'' Williams said. ''In team tennis, you really have to keep your energy up. You have to manage the stop and go. I didn't manage it that well.''

Williams is trying to prepare for those types of challenges at the London Olympics, which begin July 28 for tennis. She called the 2012 Games ''the ultimate achievement'' for her.

''This Olympics is more exciting for me,'' she said. ''All the other ones, I didn't have to worry whether or not I would make it. I was on top of the rankings. I didn't have any problems. It was, for a lack of a better word, for granted. But this time, I had to fight so hard for it, just to get in contention and come back from so much.''

Williams, who won singles gold in 2000, has been trying to mount a career comeback after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.

''I've been training to bring home medals for the U.S., and I would love if the medal is gold-colored,'' she said.

Serena Williams is scheduled play for the Kastles on Sunday.
