Sadly I think the only way they WILL stop is when Stefanki shows up with his next MALE player in a couple of months. I've been a bit surprised at how easily people will believe something like this with no mainstream media corroboration. I mean like Venus or Serena could stub a toe in the tennis world without it being covered everywhere? I love TF and the information I get from it, but seriously it's not hard to just Google something to make sure the story (especially something as big as a coaching change) is actually true.
I think everyone in sport can be inspired by what Venus has done and how she's come back and winning championships and just doing so well. So I have been utterly completely inspired by that. I just have no words for it. There is no greater champion in my eyes.
"I want to do things on my own terms, I can't have anything take me out.
I have never given up and it's important for me to prove to myself that I can do this, and to prove to me that i'm a champion.
If I were just to sit down, lay down and give in, then I wouldn't have any respect for myself." VW
Vee has a nice amount of points to defend in the coming months doesn't she??
*didn't know where to post this smh lol*
250 + 120 + 80 + 225 = 675 up until RG. Not too bad.
Hopefully she can somehow manage to get inside the top 16 / guarantee herself a seed for Madrid/Rome. She'll need to perform really well to get that now though since she withdrew from Paris. Oh well, there's still a shot for her to pick up a good chunk of points in Doha/Florianapolis, so hopefully she'll take advantage of it.
Her back injury isn't as serious as it was at the end of 2012 i don't think.
In the doubles she wasn't serving great, but she wasn't compromising loads on power in the same way she was in Lux and US hard season.
I think that much like the tendonitis excuse of a few years ago, it's going to be the thing she says when she wants to withdraw from an event, better than a pedicure gone wrong or the like
I think after the disappointment of Melbourne she wasn't fussed about going to Paris, and we know that for some reason she's not overly fond of Fed Cup play so she cancelled on that as well. She knows she needs to push her ranking up and Doha to Florianoplis is her last chance for months to gain points at will, so i expect to see her play them both, and i even have my fingers crossed for a Dubai WC as well.
If she bails on the tour from now until Miami then she goes 6 weeks without match play, and straight into defending back to back premier quarter final points. Venus is definately stupid enough to do this, but if she actually means what she's been saying about wanting to get her ranking back up then she'll actually act accordingly.
Each tournament is important for me, ... Each tournament would do something to my ranking and such kind of thing, step forward for the future. Also I think it's the opportunity, the opportunity to do what I love, to play my best, to play for the people who appreciate what I do.
