Re: Queen Venus' chat thread: Volume 2 :D

What a coincidence, the day I post in her schedule thread that she'll likely withdraw, she does I doubt she accepted a wild card. Kuala Lumpur, Miami, Charleston, Fed Cup, Rome, Madrid, Roland Garros, Wimbledon please.

Re: Queen Venus' chat thread: Volume 2 :D

I wonder since she is still dealing with the fatigue and finding the right medicine if she may not just decide to skip both Doha and Kuala Lumpur and make her return at home in Miami(from an aspect of time, travel, training, ect... it would seem rather ideal).

Vee officially gets the award for the most mysterious player of the Open Era.

I don't take much into her entering events these days, but via her comments after her doubles match, and her entering Charleston you have to think that she maybe really will be ready?

Is she really playing Miami? I think that she'll skip it as well and only play Charleston

No, i think we'll almost certainly see her in Miami. Kuala Lumpur must be a doubt with the long journey etc but i think she'll want to play her home tournament and it's still a month or so away so plenty of time to build on that fitness and stamina.

Plus doesnt she have a t-shirt competition for Eleven where the winner see's her play her first match there. Doubt she'd do that if she didn't have serious designs on playing it.

Re: Queen Venus' chat thread: Volume 2 :D

I wouldn't be surprised if she starts with Miami, Charleston, week off, Fed Cup, 2 weeks off, Madrid, Rome, week off, Roland Garros, 2 weeks off, Wimbledon. Not all that many chances to boost her ranking. All are big events that she could get bad draws. Kuala Lumpur would be really smart to attempt because she can get some much needed points sooner and test out her body on the weaker competition.

I think this sounds like a more reasonable schedule considering the circumstances. I want her to have the best chances possible to have a better seasaon over last year. I'm willing to wait as long as possible even though I miss her so much on the courts but at least we can hopefully look forward to a good comeback.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the SILENCE OF OUR FRIENDS. MLK

Re: Queen Venus' chat thread: Volume 2 :D

I hope she can accumulate ~1500 points between those events so that she'll be able to get in directly and not have to worry about Christina/Beth/Vania/Irina. That would put her near the top 30 I think. Hopefully she can just avoid Serena/Kim/Na and we'll be all set.

And hopefully she'll be able to get a strong showing in Miami to take some pressure off of her during the clay season. I don't want her going into Madrid/Rome/RG feeling like she needs to accumulate 1000+ points to get into the Olympics.

Oh and her tweet yesterday about having a good day was encouraging. Hopefully her training stops getting rained out though. Not here for that. She better be doing some drills indoors.

Re: Queen Venus' chat thread: Volume 2 :D

^Kuala Lumpur and Charleston allow for a total maximum of 750 points to be up for grabs. That can really spare her the trouble during the clay season regardless of Miami. She can't really be stingy of events.

Venus Williams will attempt to play tournaments in Kuala Lumpur and Miami, TENNIS.com has learned. The 31-year-old also recently entered the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, to be played on March 31-April 8.

Last Sunday, Williams played her first match since the U.S. Open, partnering Liezel Huber in a Fed Cup dead-rubber doubles victory against Belarus. She is contending with Sjogren's syndrome, an autoimmune disease, and said at Fed Cup that her immediate plans were to go back to Florida and train.

The tournament in Kuala Lumpur begins the week of February 27, and the tournament in Miami starts the week of March 20.—Matt Cronin
