Good morning Planet Venus! :wavey:

Thanks for posting that graphic, Maj. It calmed me down a bit because I was like OH NO, VENUS IS IN THE GROUP OF DEATH  But Imma take deep breath and just hope that she rises to the occasion :)

Hope you're all ready to cheer our queen on to victory  :cheer:

Gllll, this group seems tough to me! Woz is a pusher for sure but I wish we got her or Garcia in our group, both of whom I think would be easy victories for Vee.

I'm happy we dodged Svito who I think is the biggest threat here. Avenging Muguruza would be delicious.

COME ON VEESUS!! THIS YEAR HAS BEEN TOO GOOD TO NOT WALK AWAY WITH A TITLE.

Couldn't have landed in the same group with her. #5 and #6 are drawn into separate groups.

Fine draw though, I guess. I would've preferred Garcia > Ostapenko, but at least she drew Ka.Raonic instead of Svitolina.

I doubt that anyone will go 3-0 in this group. It'll probably come down to sets W/L or even games W/L to decide who advances to the SF. I like Venus' chances of advancing, but she can't afford to continue her recent trend of going on walkabouts and losing lopsided sets.... :scared:

Great thread TPlaya!

Her group seems tough! But I think she can handle it if she's healthy and prepared. Also of the players in her group only Mug really benefits from the slow surface. Though I guess Ostapenko may prefer it as well.

I think the winner of the whole thing comes out of the white group though. Their matches are probably going to be physical in terms of the hitting but not as grueling in terms of time. Red group is going to keep themselves on court for hours.

Anyway lets get this title!

Venus and Caroline talked about how SLOW the courts are playing :( I'll reserve judgement until I see her play against Pliskova tomorrow because we know that Venus can play on slow surfaces but sometimes she gets impatient (Timea B) and might get herself into trouble.

Looks like the match shows in my time zone on BEinHD (US Central DST) at 4am  Guess I'll be putting myself to bed early

GO VENUS!!! :cheer:
