Re: London Olympics 2012

Vinci made the fourth round of Wimbledon this year so Kim cannot be too rusty. I have no idea what to expect from Kim. If she's 100% healthy (BIG if) the motivation is definitely there so anything's possible... I just hope Kim enjoys the experience and gets to play her best tennis injury-free.

Re: London Olympics 2012

article in today's newspaper:

Kim Clijsters trainde gisteren twee keer.

Net zoals Wimbledon eigenlijk.'

De loting was Kim Clijsters relatief gunstig gezind. De Italiaanse Roberta Vinci. Haalbaar toch? ‘Alles is haalbaar', aldus Maes.

Re: London Olympics 2012

in short:

-Conclusion about the stomach muscle: Carl Maes: ‘she’s not 100%, but she can play in a controled way. The big question is: for how long?’

-Kim practiced twice yesterday: in the morning doubles with Olivier Rochus, playing Stefan Wauters and Reginald Willems. Preparation for mixed doubles, even if they will only know on Tuesday if they are in the draw. In the afternoon: just physical training.

-It looked as if Kim wasn’t bothered by her stomach muscle. But Carl Maes said: practice is not a match. ‘She can serve, not at 100% but good enough. The only question is: what if she has to serve 10 or 20 times in a row. With the stress of the match on top of that.

-They had a new ultrasound, the tear is better, but not fully healed.

-The draw was pretty good. Italian Roberta Vinci. Carl Maes: ‘Everything is possible, it could have been a lot worse. But Vinci is a girl that can play on grass, ask that to Kirsten Flipkens.’

-Kim will be seen in the Belgian red and with from Adidas. But she will play in her well known Fila-shoes. Players can choose themselves everything that can influence there play, like shoes and rackets.

Re: London Olympics 2012

Great win by Kim! Granted I messed up the time conversion and missed the first hour (when I realized I felt sick, haha) but she looked very determined and pumped from what I saw. Hopefully the stomach muscle is okay.

Come on Kim!

Re: London Olympics 2012

Very good first set! But I fear that the Kim's injury was awakened at the end of the match because her service was becoming very bad ... I hope this is not the case !
