Question Will Juju play FCC Charleston, SC?

I was wondering if Justine will play the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, SC. I forget if she played last year or not, I think no... but not entirely for sure. I might consider going if she decides to play, as it would be my best chance to attend a tournament this year without missing much class.

Former Wimbledon Finalist Justine Henin-Hardenne to Debut at 2003 Family Circle Cup
Date: 1/22/2003

CHARLESTON, SC (January 22, 2003) -- Grand Slam finalist Justine Henin-Hardenne has officially entered the Family Circle Cup scheduled for April 5 - 13 at the Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston, South Carolina. Currently ranked No. 5 in the world, Henin-Hardenne will join other top tennis stars like Serena Williams, Jennifer Capriati and Monica Seles. Some of the biggest names in women's professional tennis will be battling for the coveted Cup trophy and a piece of the $1.3 million in prize money.

Henin-Hardenne debuted on the women's pro tour at the beginning of 1999 and made the tennis world take notice by winning her first tournament. She is one of only six women players since the 1970's to win a singles title in her debut tournament. She has won six singles titles on the WTA Tour and has posted wins over a number of top-ranked players including Serena Williams, Jennifer Capriati and Monica Seles. By reaching the 2001 Wimbledon final, she became the first Belgian woman or man to reach a Wimbledon final. Last year she won her first Tier 1 event in Berlin and a week later she reached the Italian Open final before losing to Serena Williams. Just last week at the Australian Open, she won a dramatic match against former No. 1 Lindsay Davenport in the fourth round. Henin-Hardenne was down 4-1 in the final set and came back to win the match 9-7.

Henin-Hardenne will be making her first appearance at the Family Circle Cup. Last year she was scheduled to compete in the tournament but was forced to withdraw with a left adductor strain.

"Justine has that fighting spirit on the court that sets her apart from other players and that was clearly evident in her most recent match against Lindsay Davenport," stated Frankie Whelan, Executive Director of the Family Circle Cup. "She is a player that is improving more and more each year. I think the best is yet to come from Justine and the Family Circle Cup is the perfect backdrop to see that happen."
