help needed

hey peeps
i am looking to go to roland garros for the 1st time this year
maybe for the 1st 5 days of main draw
i am interesting in getting advice from others who have been before
i would like just a ground pass. does that entitle you to go to any main stadium (phillipe chatrier, suzanne lenglen)? can you get tickets on the day? do you have to line up? or do you have to buy them before hand?
also what about accomodation? i am thinking maybe find a hostel close to the venue. any suggestions?
hope someone can help me out
any assistance will be greatly appreciated
thanks a lot in advance

Re: help needed

for the tickets, i think you must reserve now because it isn't sure that it will rest the day of play. The reservation is still open on the official website. But it is a ballot so good luck !!!
For the hotels, you'll see in Paris, they are a lot cheap in Paris ... see you in June

Re: help needed

I'm also looking to go to during the first week, so is there no guarantee of being able to buy tickets on the day?

Re: help needed

No, Andrew, I think you'll struggle to buy any tickets on the day for the first week of main draw (though there are touts, but that's always a risk). Wednesday is especially unlikely (as it's kids day). You'll easily get tickets for qualifying week, and for 2nd week main draw (as long as you're happy watching doubles/ juniors on the non-show courts).

Re: help needed

They sometimes sell up to 1000 ground passes, but you need to queue early, and these are about 30 Euro I think.

Your best bet is getting a players pass as I think its too late for the ballot system. Can Mirvana help you??? If not, maybe she has some contacts who can. The players are pretty good, if they know you're travelling they are pretty sympathetic to helping you if they can.

Your other option is scalpers, never any shortage of them lurking around the outside of Roland Garros and not hard to come by. Its usually about 150 Euro's round 1, & 200 Euros round 2, thereafter I don't know, and that gains you entry into one of the main stadiums. Just make sure the ticket is authentic.

For memory even qualifying costs about 20 euros to go to. Its not like Australian Open where it is free and tickets are so cheap and readily available
