Thanks. I thought all teams had the same criteria. When you say times available, do you mean ties or years? Very dumb rules! There should be 44 direct entries (singles) divided among the six regions, 16 qualifiers from a regional tournaments and 4 wildcards. Or do what team sports and have the top 16 teams can nominate 2 singles & a doubles team and make up the numbers with regional qualifiers. Countries like China can't BS their way in. You can fiddle in Group I, you just won't get the ranking needed to insure participation.

This whole China tanking thing reminds me of the badminton scandal in London 2012

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari
I'm obsessed with the Greek players. Deal with it.

ANNA GERASIMOU-EIRINI GEORGATOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER

I'd say it's the opposite.
In 2012, the teams tried to win the tournament and because of that, they tried to lose a match to increase their chance of winning.
In FedCup, the players try to win their matches, but overall, the team tries to "lose" the tournament. They do that by sending a team and lineup that cannot win even if all the players who play try their best.

Difference is: At the Olympics, people try everything to win. At the FedCup, no one gives a fuck.

Where are the Snowdens of yesteryear?

I get the ideal wanting a lower qualification criteria, but if you qualified for the WGII playoffs and lose, wouldn't the qualifications be the same as not playing in the playoffs in the first place? Too bad ITF doesn't see that they are destroying the competition for the sake of the Olympics.
