Wink Adelaide to host Fep Cup -Aust vs Esp

......on hard court.
I know a few players cracked it about playing on grass wehn they beat Sui in April last year but I would have thought they may have chosen grass against spain in Feb.

MJ Martinez has reached 3rd round @ Wimby but would have thought it would be an advantage for Aust if Medina or Suarez play. Esp since Suarz beat Venus on the to the Oz Open Qrts this year- beating 3rd round MJMS and 4th round AMG as well- showing these guys are great on the Aussie hardcourts as well.

Sure Adelaide will be a success- good luck both teams!

Re: Adelaide to host Fep Cup -Aust vs Esp

This was a hard one, Stosur has been good on clay, but no other Official Aussies have and of course Spain are always good on clay.

Stosur has been less then convincing on Grass and MJMS is pretty hard to beat on grass. Still would have liked there chances here.

Hard I guess is the best choice as long as it is a slower hard court like the Australian Open. This will be an interesting tie and should be verrry close.

I support Australia because I can't stand Anabel Medina, Nuria Llagostera and Vivi Ruano

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

Australia has a great chance, I'd still think grass would be a better option despite what players they have.
Anyone going to go to this tie? I'm considering it. Just gotta fly up from Melbourne

And if your life were gold, how long do you think you'd stay living?

Not smart to play on hard I don't think. It really makes it an equal playing field, which is not what you wanna do when you get to host a tie. I still would've gone with grass. Sure, not all Australia's players are great on grass, and Martinez Sanchez is good on grass, but the rest of the Spanish players would prefer hard over grass.

Grass woulda been better I think, but hopefully the girls can do it. Might be hard to squeeze into the team with Stosur Stubbs Dokic Molik Dellacqua and even Groth/Rodionova possibles if their citizenship finally comes through.

Would love to see Alicia teaming up with Dellacqua or Dokic on a regular basis in 2010.

God knows Dokic would benefit from doubles! But it just seems unlikely Dokic would pkay doubles with an Aussie... it's only happened a couple of times I think. They'd only let Dokic play doubles in this tie if it was a dead rubber.
