Li Na ready for first singles title
Li Na speaks to reporters after arriving in Hamburg for the German Open
Li Na has certainly had a strong start to the W?W?W? season. Reaching the semis in Canberra and Miami, and winning the Indian Wells/Miami double in Doubles competition have been a few of her season highlights. The one thing missing? A singles title.
"Yeah, I've had some tough luck in the events losing some close matches in the quarters, semis," said Li, who is looking for her first singles title of the season this week in Hamburg. "But I keep losing to the girl that ends up winning the tournament so I must be doing something right!"
And right she is. In her first tournament of the year in Cascablanca, she lost to Bojana Jovanovski in the Quarters, who ended up winning the event. Same thing happened in Canberra and Miami to Alize Cornet, Heather Watson in Indian Wells, and just last week to doubles partner Venus Williams in Charleston.
"I'm bound to win a title eventually! Last week I wasn't as disappointed because I was happy for my doubles partner Venus. But this week is a whole different story," asserted Li.
Li also mentioned how she likely will not play in the doubles competition this week, as Venus is playing in Charleston.
"Yeah, I'm a bit sad, we have to much fun on the court and we have been undefeated this season. I would never play with someone other than her, so hopefully we can keep our streak going next week in Belgrade."
