Re: Greta Arn

New Haven Qualies

Quote:
(2)Lucie Hradecka (CZE) v Catalina Castano (COL)
Vera Dushevina (RUS) v Kimiko Date-Krumm (JPN)
Olga Savchuk (UKR) v Estrella Cabeza Candela (ESP)
Greta Arn (HUN) v (5)Olga Govortsova (BLR)
Hradecka is still playing doubles in Cincinnati and might withdraw. But given the fact that Greta is not in the shape of her life to put it decently, I doubt there is much hope for surviving the qualies anyway.

Re: Greta Arn

Wow. Thrashed. Against Govortsova. I am kinda speechless.

2-6, 0-6 in 56 minutes, 7 DF in 7 service games, 31% of all points won. Against Govortsova. And not Serena Williams.

Hard to think that this slump might end pretty soon as it is already kinda long and seems to be getting worse.

On to whereever now...

... directly to the US Open.

Where we are gonna have a Hungarian clash:

Quote:
[14] Kirilenko - Scheepers
Szavay - Arn

Voskoboeva - Rus
Hlavackova - Zakopalova [24}
Given the results in the last months, I don't expect anything and hope for the best, though.

Go for it, Schätzelein.

Re: Greta Arn

After beating Szavay by retierement, today's display against Kirilenko was really well, despite she lost 3-6, 2-6

Her serve was really ok, the groundstrokes were ok, too. It was the unforced errors that killed dear Greta.

But having seen this match, I am quite relieved, cos there's a lot of juice left in this lemon.

Greta was wearing this sock on her left leg and I fear that this is a sign she had trouble with a thrombosis again, as she had some years ago.

This might explain her playing at a 25K and losing badly against Govortsova. When she came back back then, she lost0-6, 1-6 to Martina Muller on hardcourt.

Schätzelein, go on causing some damage, Top 100 looming again.

Re: Greta Arn

Planning on doing some Ratwanskaesque Asian swing, there's a start in the qualies *cough* of Seoul. Seeded # 4, Greta defeated Namigata

1-6, 6-1, 7-5

which leaves some space for improvement.....

Good luck in rd 2 against Shiho Akita.

Re: Greta Arn

After a rather disappointing start into the new season with a Q loss in Auckland which was then replaced by a LL-spot and a match against Ratwanska which ended in another defeat and a Q loss in Sysdney against an out-of-form Erakovic, Greta managed to qualify for the Australian Open, which was the most essential task of this journey.

Q spots in the MD look quite promising, so there might be a chance to get to 2nd round and defend all her points from last year.

Go for it.

Re: Greta Arn

I think she has a very good draw
Quote:
Serena Williams (USA) [3] vs. Edina Gallovits-Hall (ROU)
Magdalena Rybarikova (SVK) vs. Garbine Muguruza (ESP)
Ayumi Morita (JPN) vs. Anna Tatishvili (GEO)
Annika Beck (GER) vs. Yaroslava Shvedova (KAZ) [28]

Yanina Wickmayer (BEL) [20] vs. Jarmila Gajdosova (AUS)
Q-Greta Arn (HUN) vs. Jana Cepelova (SVK)
Rebecca Marino (CAN) vs. Shuai Peng (CHN)
Vania King (USA) vs. Maria Kirilenko (RUS) [14]

Cepelova should be very beatable, she has beaten Wickmayer before and there's nobody to be terribly afraid of in the possible R3-section either...

Really nice.

Re: Greta Arn

Does any of you Hungarian guys know any news about Greta?

Since her exit at the Australian Open, she hasn't played anymore except for Fed Cup and seems not to be entered anywhere until April....

Hope that she is fine and there has not been another thrombosis.
