Hungarian Petra Mandula was forced to withdraw from her first round match with American Jill Craybas with a back injury. Mandula is replaced in the main draw by lucky loser, Meilen Tu of the USA, who takes on Craybas Tuesday.
I have more information on Petra's withdraw. Here is what her official website posted on Jan. 3:
<Petra had an unlucky start this year.
Petra Mandula started off against Jill Craybas or with other words she should have started the 2005 season against her. Unfortunately luck was not on her side. In the warm-up phase of the match Petra had some problems with her back, so she asked for a medical check but as she was walking to the medical room the pain got so strong that she had to retire from the match.
The doctor prescribed three days full brake and physical therapy so that Petra has the possibility to play on the upcoming tournaments.>
I'll update later, but this is all that they have for now.
