** From Lowes Lawn Tennis Almanack
The final "was staged directly after the mens doubles had finished, and provided a remarkable contest. Miss S Palfrey held the centre of the stage; she gave a great all-round display, and was mainly instrumental in preventing Vines annexing his second championships of the afternoon. Miss Palfrey delighted the gallery by returning some of Vines cannon-balls with interest. Perry volleyed and smashed in lighting fashion, and Miss Jacobs was her accurate self"
