Eastbourne
Wimbledon

Withdrew from Birmingham

Can she finally break the Eastbourne SF curse?

Re: The Grass Trio

Really looking forward to this. Though I would like her to play Birmingham, if shes tired, she must rest. She has a long break after Wimbledon though so pushing on for the next 3-4 weeks would be nice.

Re: The Grass Trio

I'm very excited too, but I don't want to see that passive tennis we saw on the grass last year :tears:

You're right about Birmingham. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. If she is feeling up to playing, she should really make the final.

Also, she should be at eight in the race now so if she can keep up this consistency, there's a good chance she could qualify for the YEC, and that's not taking the possibility of withdrawals into account.

Re: The Grass Trio

She seemed very passive all last year but shes really stepped up the aggresiveness this year I think and its making the difference. I hope grass is the same.

Re: The Grass Trio

I really hope she withdraws from Eastbourne. She hasn't stopped playing for so long... If she wants to shine in Wimbledon, she really should have some rest.
In 2007, she only got to 4th round. This year she played 2 more matches, and it can make the difference!

Ok, I'll change the thread title :p

Disappointing for me as I was looking foward to seeing her play Birmingham again but the right decision.

At least she'll be seeded in Eastbourne now. I didnt like the look of it.

Re: Eastbourne and Wimbledon 2011

Good decision to miss Birmingham, its the only 64 draw MM, a win wont mean much.

Im going to keep my expectations low (i like when she surpasses them )

SF eastbourne and 4th round wimbledon seems to be her average run

We all know about the etiquette at the pristine all-England club, but maybe Marion would have more freedom at Eastbourne to go on court with the same make-up displayed in your avy;).I'd pay good money to see the reaction:lol:

Can't remember the last time one of them played a grass-court tuneup...almost makes you think that their confidence isn't as rock-solid as it normally is....This might be the ideal shot for Marion to win...and,honestly,it wouldn't be quite as special to win Wimby in their absence,IMO

Re: Eastbourne and Wimbledon 2011

Eastbourne is simply a packed field;Marion knew that from the start so there couldn't have been any expectation of a cakewalk draw...and I don't think that Marion currently has such an attitude,either....Thankfully:)

Re: Eastbourne and Wimbledon 2011

Very winneable first two rounds. Lucie is bound to be tired, and MJMS and Peer are both slumping. Its the quarter, with Vika, I worry about... The semi streak might come to an end.

Well,if Lucie wins the final, then maybe Berdych will visit to celebrate with her...and then she'll be REALLY tired the next morning;).....Not that Marion needs THAT much help:p

Re: Eastbourne and Wimbledon 2011

Pretty good draw, i'd be happy with quarters :)She could have drew a willams sister :/
You mean,Marion could have 'drawn' a Williams sister;).Btw,Conor seems to be a nice fellow, but he could use a bit of your creativity in naming Marion threads in the future:p.Ultimately,Marion's on-court result is the most important outcome:angel:

Changed the thread title :p

A very hard fought win today. A rematch of last years QF against MJMS next.

Very UN-British if you to be so flexible:lol:.You could've completely ignored mine and chosen your own replacement:angel:.Still,I'll remember this and promise to never issue anything more than a mild complaint in the future:hatoff:

Best of all---Marion managed to fight the MP and win the match, otherwise the thread title would've made us look pretty dumb;)
