Marion in Melbourne

Draw out in 3 days! Im actually looking forward to it. Marion will draw either Venus, Azarenka, Elena or JJ. I think Venus mightnt even get to the fourth round, and Vika has not been convining so fat at all. Marion always has a great chance vs. JJ but Ill never forget that Wimbledon last year. Main thing is that Henin isnt in Marions half. It'll be exciting to see her again, I've missed her in the first few tournament this year and I want to see how 2 weeks pratice in the venue itself does for her.

Re: Marion in Melbourne

Correction: Marion can play Elena, not Vera who is 9th.
If Marion avoids Hénin or some ballbasher (like Lisicki or Wickmayer), Im quite confident on her chance of reaching the 2nd week.
Allez baba!

Re: Marion in Melbourne

Please forgive the brief off-topic slide, but I have a rules question:If a player is believed to have deliberately aimed an overhead at his/her opponent--with an intent to make contact and do harm--does the chair umpire have any recourse in that matter?

What if the player barely misses and states something like,"You're lucky.I'll aim better next time."
....Or what if he actually strikes his opponent and says,"Good!I hope that hurt a lot!" ???

Re: Marion in Melbourne

Apparently in L'Equipe Marion will only play Dubai before IW and Miami.

Re: Marion in Melbourne

Yeah, in l'équipe today :
- AO
- Dubaï
- IW
- Miami

She didn't mention Monterrey. Probably, she didn't forget how disappointed she was after Miami.

Re: Marion in Melbourne

She better have her summer-October full with tournaments, she better not play a full clay schedule.

Re: Marion in Melbourne

She has been in Melbourne since January 3rd. She feels ready to play and knows what she has to do.

Re: Marion in Melbourne

I'm pretty disappointed to see she isn't playing Paris. I love watching her indoors.
Hopefully she'll get a good draw in a few hours time.

Re: Marion in Melbourne

Draw out, De Los Rios in R1, then Vandeweghe/Zahlava in R2. Gets tough then though, Zheng, MJMS, or Peng in R3. JJ again in R4 Allez, its winneable!

Re: Marion in Melbourne

Eurgh I'm so sick of these 4th round match-ups with JJ.
Actually, let's just take it once step at a time. De Los Rios is the one she beat 0 and 1 at the US open, right?

Re: Marion in Melbourne

Yay cakewalk draw!!!!

first round bye
second round bye
3 round MJMS/Zheng/Peng - all winnable
4th round JJ - we all know that's winnable
QF - only person i'm not liking there is sharapova, i think can beat everyone else.
SF she would have a decent chance again dementieva or kuznetsova, but henin is looming.
I am extremly happy with this draw, we couldn't have asked for much better.

Carol. Empress. Vika. P3tra. Garbine. Dasha. Casey. Marion.

Re: Marion in Melbourne

I read that it's going to be really hot in Melboure the next few days. I wonder how she'll cope.

Re: Marion in Melbourne

OMG this draw
Couldn't ask for a better one, Marion, what have you done to get it?

Unless something goes really wrong, she will reach the 3rd round for sure. I don't know much of Vandeweghe but I doubt she will be much of a threat.
The rest looks good too : Marion figured out how to beat Martinez Sanchez and she has a good record against Chinese players. We all know Marion's h2h against Jankovic so... A QF looks possible but it is not a given of course.

If Marion's there since Jan. 3rd, she should be used to play in the heat.

If she wants to go deep in a Grand Slam, she better do it here. After a very unfortunate US Open draw, luck decided to go on her side!

Allez Baba!
