Ilka is still very young, agree she's having a difficult time, but I haven't given up on her yet
I know in the 80's and 90's other girls were GS winners at 16 yo, but nowadays at 16 you must consider yourself lucky if you get to play the qualifying rounds for a GS. Times are changing and I think we have to be patient, Ilka will do just fine in a couple of years.
As for Jaq, she seems to have both the talent and the determination to make a beautiful career for herself. But it's gonna take a while and a lot of hard work.
She did great actually. She was the last player directly accepted in the MD (ranked 131) and she reached the final beating 3 players ranked higher than her
OK, maybe compared with the previous tournament she did a great job.
But in terms of the rank. is not really that. You know very well that there are many players of 17 ranked in the top 100, but in terms of value are lower than an 14 year girls ranked 300-400.
The best example is her opponent in the final, which lost in straight sets with Dalma Galfi, and the difference between them was a hundred places.. on top, Dalma Galfi was younger by a year and a half.
