I hope she got accepted into the MD (as she was 1st ALT when the QD was made) and didn't withdraw.

Konjuh lost in Istanbul and freed up SE spot.

Relieved, as I thought she had withdrawn.

I had the same reaction when I first saw her name off the qualifying list. Very glad it turned out I jumped to the wrong conclusion, though.

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

WTA Baku (AZE), R32:

Pauline Parmentier (FRA) d. Alexandra Dulgheru (ROU) 64 61

Said it 16 months ago and I will say it again: Alexandra will never be the same player she was before all the injuries. This was a match she should have won in straight sets.

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

Poor Alex, I don't get why they didn't let her retire early in the second set...

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

Haven't seen the match but the serve stats (except 2nd service pts won) , look more awful than in Istanbul (vs. Vinci) . So there might be a problem with the shoulder , IDK

How did she look on the court ?

.

Only saw the end of the first set and part of the second, but she called the trainer to work on her shoulder both between sets and at some point in the second. She had the kine-tape on her right shoulder and kept holding it/rubbing it between points. Definitely looked to be bothering her .

On the bright side, she's now running around like nobody's business so at least her knees seem to be doing better.

Definitely had shoulder problems and you could see the pain on her face while being massaged by the trainer. Also at 0-2 in the second she went to the umpire, looking ready to retire but continued to play after a 5 minute negotiation with the umpire, supervisor and trainer/medic...

On the other side, as Ioana also mentioned, her running and general fitness looked real good.
