Simona won today, Olympia is everything but secured for her...
Yeah, Simona now has the inside track to the Olympics for sure. Alex has her back to the wall and unless she starts putting up big points on her rankings tally over the next few weeks she can kiss London goodbye.

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

Well, you simply don't deserve an Olympia ticket if you are losing 2 & 2 to Knapp no matter on which surface and especially not on your favourite one...

She can only blame herself for that.

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

where's the happy Aaron from yesterday?

Karin is a really good player and probably Alex was tired, you can't expect her to win everything

may your choices reflect your hopes not your fears.

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

Drained down the toilet.

14 DFs, 25% won on 2nd serve, hold once the whole match. Quality stats, she still isn't at 100% in physical shape, still no excuse, this is devestating...

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

If she was the one who lost she made 14 DFs and had a better percentage on Karin's first service (in we substrate DFs made by italian) so it's clear that it's something strange here. I think that our little mermaid doesn't like mountain water

Alex Karin is a tough player and probably still tired from last week

Andrea Petkovic - Sara Errani - Jarka Gajdosova - Alizé Cornet

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

Very disappointing result for Alex but...

Karin Knapp really is a pretty decent player when everything is clicking. Obviously it's been tough for her working her way back up the rankings but remember Knapp also gave Monica a long long marathon match at Luxembourg.

On top of that Alex would hardly be the 1st player to lose in the 1st round of Bogota after having won Cali. Same thing happened to Hercog in 2010 and Yakimova in 2009. It is a notoriously difficult place to adjust to the conditions and if one is tired and hasn't been given time to aclimate this can happen.

It's a bummer because Alex needs the ranking points real bad. She took a gamble playing here rather than going for the big tournaments in the Middle East and this week at least it did not pay off. As a result, Alex needs points now even more and the pressure will only grow. I don't think we need to read too much into Alex's form based on this match but come next week in Monterrey, Alex is going to have to get some ranking points on the board, preferably 280 of them.

Alex forgot her defeat quite easily last night at the players party

Always nice to see someone taking his profession seriously.

Way to go girl, Romania's 'Dancing with the Stars' is looking for some candidates...

This is just like Rob Gronkowski of New England Patriots being criticized for partying after losing in the Superbowl. Nothing wrong with blowing some steam.

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

I think Alex has always been a player who has brushed off defeats very easily. That's actually something I think works in her favour. Fight as hard as you can during the match and forget it as soon as it is over is a good way to approach life on the tour, I'd say. I still think Alex will bounce back quickly for this result. The only worry is that she not has a limited amount of time to gain a substantial amount of points so there is not going to be a lot of room for many more bad results.

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

Yeah, I guess she needs that as a kind of break out. Nothing wrong with that in the end.

Pity that Rena bothers to play in Monterrey making Alexandra go down to seed #5. Well, I'm still stating my opinion and wouldn't be surprised if Alex does better on the HC there then on Columbian clay.
