Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

This year is a hot mess, her body is a wreck, her fitness is at junior level, so is her second serve. Disgusting year!

That ruined my day so far!

As I already said in the result thread:

You know it's serious when Alex is retiring!

One hour of play and she is done, her body is a wreck, completely drained out as if she would have played a marathon match! Her service problems are probably linked to that!

Disgusting 2011 for her! Partly injured from Mai to October! I don't know why she has shown up here in the first place!

Apart from that the match was much closer than the scoreline indicates.
I really hope she cancels Linz and Luxembourg because she wouldn't and couldn't win more than one match anyway, so why bothering...
She didn't enter doubles here which is further indication that she is at least aware of her problems and don't want to play too much too early. I really hope those things don't turn out to become a chronical issue...

Next year can only be better apart from that!

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

I saw the match! She played and moved better than expected and it was a competitive match with Alex blowing tons of GP or BP!

But after 1 hour or so was played, she completely fell apart by getting broken in a minute or so without really moving. But it's not that critical, she just had nothing left in the tank and her knees were hurting...

Quit it for the rest of the year...

Alexandra had to retire. I wish her to sort out her health issues, and then go from there. But I understand it's not easy to step off this demanding train called WTA for a while

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

And you don't have to forget that she as all tennis players earns her money by playing. So, if there is a slight chance of playing, she does, especially because she already missed nearly the whole US Open series...

There have also been signs of improvement, though! Her first serve stats are once again rather decent and she had a couple of fine returns, too. But the second serve is non existant, nearly all points are DFs

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

Bilateral knee injury was also the reason for her first WTA retirement last year at Prague when she has failed last year during the US Open Series having still problems...

It's a mess! What she has to do now is searching and working together with a specialist. Knee problems are among shoulder and back pain one of the most typical tennis injuries. First it's important to recover and then you have to think over what could be done to avoid further damage and maybe find some prophylaxictal measures in order to keep the pressure on the knees as low as possible!

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

it depends on what is the problem mostly i had knee problems (LCA ropture) but i decided to never go under surgery and now i built big leg muscles to keep it safe and seems to work so far...she needs to find a good doctor and decide the right work to do on it

may your choices reflect your hopes not your fears.

Re: Alexandra Dulgheru!!!

Yes, that's what I meant! Bilateral knee injury is a very general expression, so we actually don't know what exactly is the problem, but given the fact that it is bilateral, makes me think that her knees are overstrained by the pressure of long matches and training sessions...

She already said that she is working together with Nadal's doctor because he has also a certain issue for knee problems. But in her case they seem to be so persistent...
