All tough fields
She should have maybe chosen Washington DC for starters.
If we are now heading into a discussion which tournaments she should have played and which not, we could probably discuss until tomorrow...
Of course, all tournaments on the US Open Series have tough fields because they are Premier events at least and a good preperation for the US Open.
Alexandra has nothing to defend throughout the whole series until the US Open which is a good chance for her to gain some points (or not if she is playing like at the beginning of the year
At least she shouldn't be much tired and probably be one of the most rested players in the draws. I still hope she can repeat a run like the one in Miami, somehow...
Actually, we all shouldn't give so much about the rankings because
1.) She doesn't seem to give a damn about them either
2.) We all know that she could have beaten a lot of the scrubs at Tanku or Bad
Gastein anyway if she would have played...
If her plan to concentrate only on the big events will fail this year, she can continue from new in 2012 and win 1 or 2 MM trophies like AMG (she has beaten in Marbella by the way) to climb up the rankings again.
You get 280 points for a win there which is a lot. Just look how for example Hercog, who completely failed at the beginning of the year, is now on career high and Martinez Sanchez who really plummed off the rankings is now in Top 40 again...
She is no Rezai whose game is so fragile and error prone that she will fall into a neverending slump (at least I hope so
So we should just observe her matches on the US Hard Court and see what she is capable of at the moment!
