This is a cheering thread for Laura-Ioana Andrei, who's had impressive results this year. The 19-year-old from Bucharest is already an impressive doubles player, with 13 ITF doubles titles in her short career.
Now she is looking to gain ground in singles. She was a finalist at the 10K in Dijon, France in March, and just got to the quarterfinals of the 100K+H in Tourhout, Belgium.
After her first 25k title... she also makes her WTA MD debut in Nuremberg
She beat Podoroska in R1 and then an incredible match against Cyprus' #1 player. She came back from 36 15, saved two MP's and ultimately won 62 in the third. Fantastic
From 3-6 1-5 down ! Against Serban. How mentally strong is that. A big fighter
WTA main draw debut at the age of 30 (almost 31) ! Incredible.
This shows that it's never too late for anything. That one should never give up.
I noticed her more and more on ITFs. The improvement she has made is impressive ! :yeah:
I saw some of the match. Laura played solid, good, consistent tennis. Sehr überlegt/considered. You see the experience and that she is a smart player. She hit some nice impressive winners too.
She won her first match on WTA MD in straights against Lemoine and then also put at a good fight and took a set of Cirstea. Really, really amazing week, I'm sure she's very proud :yeah:
Hopefully it's not the last time she gets to play in WTA/GS
