Regarding Palermo, no way she loses to Renata!

Re: Irina-Camelia Begu Cheering Thread!

Caroline Garcia should be a formidable opponent for Irina, if she can beat Voracova.

Renata is a good player, but she's well past her peak now....but Irina could struggle with Caro in R2 I think.

Just when you think things couldn't go worse for her...

She avoided being bageled in the second set, but this loss is just... Embarrassing doesn't even begin to describe it...

57 26 and suddenly Olaru & Ema Bogdan aren't all alone on that sinking boat of theirs. They may even have a new captain

She is in a big slump. Where is the girl I was getting excited about during that run to the Final at Marbella tournament.

Not in Palermo, that's for sure.

I even start to wonder if it's the shoulder indeed or just another Timea Bacsinszky case.

Re: Irina-Camelia Begu Cheering Thread!

She is injured, that's all.

I can't imagine her playing that bad to lose to Voracova and Torro-Flor on grass like that with that serve of hers. She must be hampered. Take into account how many weeks she has already missed this year.

I only wonder how many more alarm clocks she needs to finally take a break for good and rest up.

Thus said, she can still be lucky to have won a couple of matches here and there because her draws in 2013 have been a complete joke. If she was only at 50% she could have already been ranked in the Top 30 due to pure luck alone, but in this state she is only embarrassing herself.

Re: Irina-Camelia Begu Cheering Thread!

She may likely need surgery on that shoulder or rotator cuff. We'll see what happens but that's my feeling.

And we all know that this is really a serious case. Not surprising she is shying away from that, but how does she imagine the rest of her career?

WTA and GS draws don't get easier than that. She has to react.

Re: Irina-Camelia Begu Cheering Thread!

There are cases when a rotator cuff (hypothetically speaking in this case) only needs rest and no surgery, it depends on severity of it. From what I see rest in her case doesn't do it. If I remember correctly she was injured last year.

Re: Irina-Camelia Begu Cheering Thread!

The first time last year I haven't seen her with a taped shoulder, she beat Wozniacki with ease and went on winning Tashkent + reaching Linz SF in a row. Then she had to pull out of Luxembourg Q again with a sore shoulder.
I'm also pretty sure that shoulder injury might be one of the reasons, why her timing seems to be completely off in 90% of her baseline shots.

She has so much game, but she doesn't belong on a tennis court right now.
