Congrats Anabel! She wins the POTW award for backing up her semi-final in Auckland with a run to the final in the Gold Coast, and is given an extra ace to use in Sydney.

Venus Training Hard For Sydney

Venus Williams of the US was spotted in Paris, France today training on the red clay of Roland Garros for the rebound ace event in Sydney. Not something you would normally see an American player doing, but Venus has set her sights on having a stellar season in ATC and will be training hard througout the year to get to the YEC.

"Well I came to Paris to get some shopping in before I head back to Australia. I was put out really early in the Mondial tournament so I had a little time to do some additional training on clay, before I headed back down under.

It is a little unusual for a player to be training on one surface while competing on a totally different surface, but I have my reasons. My coach and I began to notice that the longer the rallies went on, the more my game would break down. I started out fast in every game and could hold on to some leads because of inconsistancy on my strokes.

The clay will force me to get more balls back into play and construct my points on any surface. Plus getting a head start for the clay season isn't a bad idea in itself."

GV - Back From The Dead.........
Venus better have her hair fixed for the AO I'm just tired of it.

Re: S1 - 3: Medibank International, Sydney (I)

How do you decide the aces for the doubles?their average or the highest aces between them?
Krajicek has 1 and Peer has none.

Bartoli working hard down under

France's world number 27 Marion Bartoli arrived in Sydney three days ago after her crushing 6-0 6-0 defeat at the hands of American Venus Williams. Bartoli has been working hard on her rebound ace form, hoping to improve her record on the surface before the Australian Open next week.

"Of course it was incredibly hard to have such a loss in my first match on the ATC tour, but I've been working hard this week and I feel like I am ready to get out there in Sydney and just give it everything I have."

Bartoli will be hoping for a variable draw as she starts her Sydney campaign on Monday.

BARTOLI, Marion ♠ CORNET, Alizé ♣ MLADENOVIC, Kristina ♥ GARCIA, Caroline

Aren't you supposed to round-up? That would be one.

I know just--just what you are--ah-ah.

I like the way that you taste, when you're all up in my face.
