I was wondering why I had never heard of Liu. Well, if nothing else she can compete against Portland players for sure I'd think.

Not really sure what to think about the format they came up with for this event - apparently there will be 8 round-robin pools for singles and the winners of each pool will advance to play 3 rounds of tiebreaks to determine the overall winner on the final day. Re: Fall Tournaments

from Zootennis;

"In the semifinals, they topped No. 1 seeds Fuller and Herring of Georgia 9-8(4), and in the final they defeated No. 2 seeds Emina Bektas and Brooke Bolender of Michigan 9-7.

At 7-7, they broke Bolender, and with McPhillips serving for the match, took a 40-0 lead. After two errors by Morton, they were down to their last one, but a good first serve that Bektas couldn't return gave them the win."

I've said it before but Kyle's serve is actually very good
after a tad disappointing dbls results at WAATC and SW R, Kyle wins a dbls title.

Perhaps Georgia will be also? I guess they could sent Craft, but she did just travel all the way to Portland this weekend. Back to LA would be a bit much.

I hope not

from UGA website;

"The Bulldogs will return to action next weekend with the USTA/ITA National Championships in New York and the Jack Kramer Club Invite in Los Angeles."

(that's..Kimbell and Craft?)

I wonder whether BU will send their A-team

Re: Fall Tournaments

Memphis swept the Lakewood Ranch clay court tournament for the second year in a row.

Freshman Tymchenko beat UF's Janowicz, Cercone and Hitimana (all in the 3 sets) to take the singles title. UF frosh Morgan had a nice win over Notre Dame's Britney Sanders in the QFs, but lost to teammate Hitimana in the semis.

Memphis's Collins/Gray beat Janowicz/Hitimana and Cercone/Morgan in the doubles SF and Final.

Re: Fall Tournaments

Good win for Mary Clayton over Lauren McHale in the Kitty Harrison final @ UNC 5-7, 7-6, 6-4.

I wonder what's going on with Jodoin? I thought coming in she would play #2, but she seems to be really struggling this fall - she won the B draw at this tournament, but it is pretty telling that she got placed in the B draw, when Mulholland was placed in A.
