So, was coach Thornqvist thinking of THAT 2010 tragedy? Did he think that putting Embree at 2 will guarantee the win than at 1?

It seems to have paid off spectacularly.

But no more excuses now. I fully expect Embree to play at #1 next season , IN THE NCAA (Hell, she even beat Gullickson)

The draw of ACC/SEC on one side and PAC12 on the other resulted in more conference rivalry between backer of teams in the conferences. Each side is convinced of their righteousness.

2010: Lindsay really had the tournament of her life that year! One could say she really stepped it up when it mattered - she would not be denied!

Will understandably? didn't want to lose 3 in a row, hence the MTO
Embree and Cercone are unbeaten in singles in the NCAA's. They are the most competitive players I've seen in my time following the Gators. Both have rallied big time with the match on the line the last 2 seasons. Cercone was down a set last year in the finals as well last year. Without that comeback, Embree doesn't even have a chance. Same for Jano. And of course Cercone down a set again this year against Duke. People talked about her fitness this year, but mentally she's every bit as tough as any player I have watched when it matters most. Embree of course gets the accolades for clinching 2 years in a row, last year being much more dramatic, but it definitely goes to show this is a team sport and every point matters the same.
