Minnesota's top three are all pretty good players! Pintusava from what I hear was hurt most of last year but has been healthy this year!

They forgot to add also due to three scholarship players defecting from Tennessee before the season started.

I suspect some of these defectors are laughing their ass off at Tennessee thinking karma's a bitch.

4/14/12

#22 Texas Tech upsets #20 Texas A&M 4-3

Georgetown upsets #57 Syracuse 5-2

- Syracuse was missing 2 starters from the bottom of their line-up that played & won when Syracuse upset #28 Yale.

#44 Utah upsets #30 Arizona St. 5-2

- Arizona St. was missing their #1 & #3 singles.

- Whoever plays Arizona St. in the NCAA Tournament 1st round may essentially get a walk-over.

Re: Matches of the Week - 2012

4/14/12

Cornell upsets #48 Brown 4-3

Penn upsets #72 Harvard 4-3

- This goes to show anyone can beat anyone in conference play. Teams can better measure their program by the ranked non-conference opponents they beat.

Penn! First win over a ranked opponent since 2008; we didn't even get one with Connie!

I think that's especially true in the Ivy, where the level seems to decrease as the season goes on and the season moves outdoors. I have always attributed this as a result of the lack of training & conditioning by those teams because of the high demands of their academics. It seems to me that the Ivy teams are not necessarily overrated but simply at a huge disadvantage, esp. towards the end of the season. They all seem to start fairly strong and then keep their rankings by playing each other. Considering the huge amount of talent (blue chips, 5 stars) in that league, I think their NCAA tournament record is fairly poor, is it not?

Anyway point is, to add to what Gouci said, I think that especially in that conference at this point it's a coin flip most of the time.

The coaching situation at UT is very dysfunctional. A meltdown was inevitable.

Re: Matches of the Week - 2012

4/16/12

#43 Arkansas upsets #37 LSU 5-2

- I guess this assures both Arkansas and LSU of getting an NCAA At-large based on beating an injured Tennessee team. Two lucky teams will play one of these two over rated teams in the 1st round.

Wisconsin upsets #47 Indiana 5-2

Princeton upsets #72 Harvard 4-3

Texas Arlington upsets #41 Stephen F. Austin State 4-0

- Stephen F. Austin State probably has to win their conference auto bid, by beating out Texas Arlington, or bust.

Kansas St. upsets #45 Missouri 4-3

#34 Purdue upsets #31 Minnesota 4-3

Columbia upsets #48 Brown 5-2

#38 TCU upsets #36 Rice 4-3

So Arkansas and LSU clinch an NCAA At-large.

Stephen F. Austin State, Missouri and Brown all bow out of the At-large race. Stephen F. Austin St. can still win their conference auto bid.

Re: Matches of the Week - 2012

from UT website;

No. 13 Texas 4, No. 12 Baylor 3

Doubles - Order of Finish: 3, 2, 1

1. #20 Nina Secerbegovic/Ema Burgic (BU) def. Krista Damico/Cierra Gaytan-Leach (UT) 8-6

2. #42 Lina Padegimaite/Noel Scott (UT) def. Sona Novakova/Diana Nakic (BU) 9-8(5)

Funny, the ranked UT team plays 2nd, but nevertheless, beating Novakova/Nakis is no mean task

3. Elizabeth Begley/Aeriel Ellis (UT) def. Nicole Kosakowski/Jordaan Sanford (BU) 8-4

Singles - Order of Finish: 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 4

1. #24 Nina Secerbegovic (BU) def. #64 Krista Damico (UT) 6-4, 6-0
2. #17 Diana Nakic (BU) def. #26 Aeriel Ellis (UT) 6-4, 6-3
3. #45 Sona Novakova (BU) def. Noel Scott (UT) 6-2, 6-3
4. Cierra Gaytan-Leach (UT) def. Ema Burgic (BU) 6-2, 5-7, 6-3
5. Lina Padegimaite (UT) def. Jordaan Sanford (BU) 6-0, 6-3
6. Elizabeth Begley (UT) def. Megan Horter (BU) 6-0, 6-0

BU sweeps the higher, UT lower positions
Cierra beating Ema was definitely the clincher.

SFA
I wonder if they tanked . Pathetic either way

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari
I'm obsessed with the Greek players. Deal with it.
