The match could have a weird feel for the Stanford fans, Stanford vs. Stanford. If Gibbs wins, it would be legend, considering how tough her match was yesterday, etc.
You're right about the Stanford vs Stanford factor. I've been following Card tennis off and on for almost ten years and although Gibbs is an awesome player, I have to admit that Hilary is probably my ATF Card player.
Love Barte's all around court game and aggressive play. How she can hit the ball a ton, yet possesses amazing touch. Can compete at No. 1 considering she is only 5'4", probably one of the smallest players out there.
Stanford has produced a lot of great players over the years, but for me, it is Barte's actions that don't show up on the stat sheet that makes her my AFT. She seems to be a vocal leader, more vocal than any other player I've seen at their No. 1 spot. Her fiery attitude to pump up not just her, but her teammates too. How she skips out to the baseline after the court change overs. And most of all, it looks like she is having fun out there on the court, unlike a lot of other players.
It would be icing on the cake for her to take the Individual Crown on her home court for her last match.
