Ugh, that sucks. Injuries this time of year are no good. She's battled injuries all year long and it's unfortunate it came about right now.

didn't win a SET....UF coach was right, Clemson may be the best in the nation..
(but they were both finalist, didn't win either of Riviera or Intercollegiate..)

Re: National Individual Championship, Singles and Doubles Tournaments

Nicole Great fight!

Jana was born in 1987 and Nicole was born in 1993...

Also, Clemson is a better doubles team than Sanchez/Christian. Bek is a great doubles player, Wong is sold too. I would have been shocked had USC won.

Too bad about Lauren, but Stacey Tan is in the NCAA final Good for her?

Serena Williams
Victoria Azarenka Venus Williams
Sloane Stephens Christina McHale

Re: National Individual Championship, Singles and Doubles Tournaments

Shocked? Have you even seen USC team play?
USC defeated BOTH CAL and STAN teams, you know?
The score wasn't even close, 85, 82 or something, and though they
did lose to CAL at Ojai final in 3 sets, they were leading 7-4 at
CAL's home (NCAA 2nd rd)
I've seen CU team at Riviera, they lost to STAN comfortably in the final.
And I was more impressed with Wong than Bek this tournament. (both are
obviously good)

National finalist, Ojai finalist, NCAA semi, I'm afraid KK could be the
2nd best..

I'm not saying USC isn't a good team, just that I think Clemson is better. Obviously USC has had good results this year. I saw them play in this tournament and they looked terrible

Andersson/Juricova back from 16 05 down to 16 *45, saving match points...

Re: National Individual Championship, Singles and Doubles Tournaments

Well talk about anticlimactic for the singles event I was really thinking a pretty promising/decent American was going to win this year and have a shot at winning a round in US Open. Maybe Gibbs will still get a QWC since she won a round last year and is still just a '93 girl, making her a promising junior technically.

Serena Williams ~ Maria Sharapova ~ Venus Williams ~ Jelena Dokic ~ Melanie Oudin ~ Christina McHale

Vandeweghe ~ Mattek-Sands ~ King ~ Hampton ~ Riske ~ Glatch ~ Brengle ~ Rogers ~ Stephens ~ Boserup ~ Davis ~ Keys ~ Lepchenko ~ Falconi ~ Chirico ~ Crawford ~ Gibbs ~ Pegula ~ Min ~ Townsend ~ Duval ~ Vickery ~ Bellis ~ Ahn

Totally agree!! It was an amazing year for her and she has tons to be proud of! I wonder if she will play the 18s championships... she's eligible still right?

Yea she doesn't turn 19 until March. It's pretty unusual that a college player returns to play hard courts (then again, most aren't eligible) so I don't know what she'll do. She might see it as a good opportunity to get the US Open MDWC?
