Re: Acc

WF info

"• Wake Forest holds a 34-26 (.567) all-time record in ACC Tournament play, the third-best mark of any conference team. The Deacons have a winning or even record against every ACC team other than Duke and Miami.
Wake Forest has faced every team except Boston College in the tournament.

The Deacs have reached the finals on eight occasions, including seven straight years from 1995-2001, but
lost to Duke in every championship match appearance.
Recent seasons have not been as successful however as Wake Forest has not made the semifinals since 2002.

• Wake Forest has won its first match of the tournament on all but four occasions (1993, 2004, 2008 and 2011)"

56.7% is the 3rd best record of ACC teams, the competition is THAT fierce, I guess. Again, a model conference

Good to see Xi Li back today in UVA's win over Wake Forest. At full health, UVA is a very good team. I now like their chances to upset Clemson.

Weird lineup by UM, but didn't work.

Khunpak and Lina lost critical matches..their chances of playing at Athens (individually) is now...

Duke vs UNC rematch in the finals of the ACC tournament. LET'S GO HEELS! sorry mboyle

Anybody have any predictions on this match? I feel like UNC will win the doubles point this time and that might make the match interesting, although I'm obviously biased so what do I know?

Re: Acc

Duke took all 3 doubles matches pretty easily last time against UNC, so I'd be surprised if UNC was able to take it tomorrow. As for the rest of the matches, Capra crushed McHale last time (and I expect she'll win easily again), and Mar and Turewicz won easily (don't see that changing). The only lines UNC has a shot at are #2 and #3. But those will most likely DNF (again).

I watched both matches today. Duke is looking as good as they were in 2009, maybe better. Everyone is playing with a lot of fight and passion. No one was making dumb errors, which is very unusual. All six starters are playing with supreme confidence that they can and should win these matches. I think it speaks volumes that Duke barely won in the regular season and then won 4-0 today. They have been just destroying teams that, on paper, should be giving them at least token opposition.

Carolina did not impress me. They barely beat Tech, and they were just not playing well.

Doubles: Duke destroyed them last time, and I don't think anything will be different this time. Duke annihilated UVA in doubles, and UVA has some of the best doubles tandems in the country.

1: Capra has this point locked up.
2: Goldfield played very well against Lindsey today. I think she'll keep it close against Zoe, and I don't think this match will finish.
3: Kahan will beat Featherston. Rachel was her old self today, and, judging by her recent scores, has been playing really well for a while now.
4: Mar deserves some award for being one of the most improved players in the league. I don't think she'll have trouble with Price.
5: Clayton has beaten Gina Suarez Malaguti several times of late. I think this should be no different, especially given Gina's record of late.
6: Turewicz could lose to Tessa Lyons, but beat her last time.

I will be at the match. I expect another 4-0 Duke victory. The real competition will be on the men's side. To be able to witness two Duke beatdowns of Carolina in one weekend would be sweet. GTHC!!!!

I do live in Texas now, but it's alumni weekend, and my a cappella group just had its annual spring show today, so I flew to NC and dragged my friend to ACCs in the morning. Will be going to the finals later today.

Re: Acc

Ehhh.. UVA was not 100% today, since Li Xi just recovered from her injury. I think Capra is too strong for anyone in the country though - she will probably win the NCAA singles title. UVA lost 4-3 to Duke the last time they played, exactly when Li Xi injured herself and forced to retire..

Re: Acc

Will say that Clemson is only talented because of experienced players (Wong, Bek) and freshman Beatrice Gumulya, who played in ITF and WTA matches in addition to representing Indonesia in Fed Cup. For god's sake, Gumulya is playing #4 after dropping matches in the beginning of season playing #1 position. That is how talented the Clemson coaches think she is. She just needs time and will be well on her way to play #1 spot again next year.
