#1 Singles Anais Dallara April Bisharat Long Beach State University 5-7, 6-4, 10-2
Manasse still at #6 and Jeczmionka lost to Miya Jin
I was at the match today.
Great match by Isy. After a ball buster first set, Dallara stopped letting the UCI transfer sit back and hit home run balls. Once the pace slowed Bisharat lost control of the style and Dallara took over. It was a fun match to watch.
The girl from LMU at number six is god awful. That was a bad recruiting job by the LMU coach. I mean she sucks.
You really can't make a sweeping judgement when you compare that match at # 6 to the girl at # 4 who was a backboard. r Anna had been up a set and 4-3 but the girl at # 4 for LMU just kept hitting the ball back.
The Manasse match was like watching the Fullerton match the day before. Manasse was still the third or fourth singles match off the court, along with Cantlay, even with that 6-0, 6-3 score. It was truly ugly tennis.
Fantic you need to come to Long Beach to see what the girls currently look like on the court. Jeczmionka had some good wins in the fall including the UCI girl in straight sets. Cantlay had a lot of wins and is much much improved.
The LB coach has been very open with various boosters about the line up. Rocky barely played in the fall after a minor surgery and had bad results when she returned. Apparently she also did not practice at all over the break from like Thanksgiving to the weekend before practice while everyone else on the team did. What do these kids think they are getting scholarships for?
Coach told several of us yesterday that Manasse lost every challenge match this spring except for splitting with Luzar. The situation is mind boggling since two years ago she was # 3 and coach is very frustrated. For LB to be what they can truly be I would say Manasse needs to kick in the ass and get back to her old spot. The match at saw at # 6 today was sh*t and not better than the girls ahead of her.
The Long Beach coach always plays her girls in proper order and will move them up and down as they earn it. You can see that each year and especially last year when she had three different number one's during the year even as they were winning team matches.
I have seen them practice this fall. The question is not whether Manasse should be hire but how she is going to deal with being on the bench when Malenovska is eligible because she and Luzar look headed for the bench this season.
Long Beach did look pretty good today though. I look forward to kicking gouci's a## in a few weeks.
