Re: Who will make impact at Riviera?

Jacqueline cako is heading to ASU i read she kept her amateur status.

¨Still an amateur, Cako has committed to playing for two years at Arizona State this fall. A freshman athletically, she’s a junior academically after getting two year’s college credit as a high-schooler with Homeschool Networks.¨

Perhaps. I was just shocked she had already completed two years of college credit.

IKR!? She must have taken a ton of AP's and took some online classes.

It's ASU man.... even The Simpson's joke about how anybody can get into ASU

Getting credits for HS work there is probably standard operating procedure.

'Pre-season Rankings and All-American selections will be announced on September 10th'

-from the ITA website

Re: Who will make impact at Riviera?

I'm watching a nice match with Chelsey Gullickson holding her own vs Caroline Wozniaki and the TV commentators said Gullickson is taking Fall semester off Georgia. So Gullickson won't be playing the Riviera.

Do you think they changed the date? On this link on the rankings page they say they will be announced September 3rd.

Re: Who will make impact at Riviera?

So, last year's finalists are gone Of the triumvirate only Juricova is left.
Naturally, she's a STRONG favorite. I doubt anybody from sophomore upward can challenge her.
Except Barte, and Sanchez maybe.
Wonder how Ahn and Gibbs would fare against Juricova..might be interesting.

Re: Who will make impact at Riviera?

I think this season is really wide open. Gullickson gone, Falconi gone, heck I wouldn't be too surprised if any freshman would win

1 of 3. Of course Juricova is the clear favorite, but if she meets her nemesis Barte

I personally would like to see a Senior win. Only McKenna so far.
