NCAA 2010 TEAM predictions

Well with the schools gearing up for regionals where the top 16 teams will host, this year's race to win is wide open.

The top 16 teams are...

1 79.75 Baylor University
2 77.04 North Carolina
3 75.26 University of Florida
4 69.67 University of Michigan
5 65.51 Northwestern University
6 65.22 University of Notre Dame
7 64.31 UCLA
8 62.86 Stanford
9 58.75 Clemson University
10 57.87 Duke University
11 54.86 University of Miami (Florida)
12 51.00 California
13 49.42 Georgia Tech
14 47.91 University of Tennessee
15 44.87 Florida State University
16 39.38 University of Mississippi

I think with the exceptions of Clemson and Duke, any of the top 10 teams have what it takes to win at the end. I am betting my darkhorses money on Tennessee and Ga Tech.

Even the teams outside the 16 like UGA and Texas could go far, too, if their star players all play well.

But, when you get right down to it, Baylor & Florida are in the class of their own. I wouldn't be surprised to see these two battling it out for the title. But, it's all too soon to call anything for sure just yet.

What are your thoughts???

Re: NCAA 2010 TEAM predictions

If the rankings hold (which I doubt they will). These would be the match-ups (they plant all seeds unlike the WTA Tour):

1 Baylor University vs. 16 University of Mississippi
8 Stanford vs. 9 Clemson University

4 University of Michigan vs. 13 Georgia Tech
5 Northwestern University vs. 12 California

2 North Carolina vs. 15 Florida State University
7 UCLA vs. 10 Duke University

3 University of Florida vs. 14 University of Tennessee
6 University of Notre Dame vs. 11 University of Miami (Florida)

What you said makes sense, but until the draw comes out. . . I'm not making predictions. I would not want to be the coach of a team that draw Florida or Baylor in the Rnd 16, or Quarters. Is there going to be any movement in the rankings of the top 16 teams before the draw comes out, or could order of the top 16 teams be predicted now? Who is still playing matches, and could creditable still gain or lose ground?

Re: NCAA 2010 TEAM predictions

It's so insulting to look at the rankings and see North Carolina above Florida. There is no way I can think of justifying such placement.

Michigan's lower singles positions vs GT's lower singles positions
AND of course doubles.

NU vs CAL rematch from the last NCAA.

UCLA vs Duke; who has the better depth? I'm all for the fellow PAC-10 team

UF & UT, SEC rivalry?

ND vs UM if I'm going to have to watch ONE match, THIS.

Re: NCAA 2010 TEAM predictions

I hope Duke can recover from a disappointing season and make the final four. Florida is taking this title. UF starts out with a 3-0 lead. They always win doubles, and Will/Embree cannot lose. A team would have to win 3-6 to beat Florida. That's a tall order, particularly given that Marret Boonstra would easily play number one on a lot of top sixteen clubs.

Re: NCAA 2010 TEAM predictions

Virginia can make some noise in this tournament.. they've narrowly lost to Clemson, UNC and Duke (all top 10 teams) and had opportunities to win the matchups. They will be the dark horse along with GTech.

Oooh, I like this better, particularly since USC is in the top 16

Overall Pac 10 teams are better represented.

But surely USC is above ASU?

Re: NCAA 2010 TEAM predictions

I do hope CAL and UF will meet.

Which team has the best singles 1~3?

Juricova, Cossou, Andersson

Embree, Will, Boonstra

Especially Cossou vs Will

Re: NCAA 2010 TEAM predictions

Huh? L. Burdette isn't that competitive at the national level.

Tan is a good player but lost against Andersson, Lao, Remynse..

Dunno why M. Burdette doesn't play #2 or 3(a few times)..and she lost to Hein at Ojai.

EDIT; M. Burdette IS now playing #3, 5 dual matches in a row..

Boise State had other ideas. Does that make a difference?

Fresno didn't host last year, they went to Illinois, as per your post last year.

Fresno at Illinois is a bit more perplexing. Why wasn't Fresno sent to Michigan instead. That is where the 16-17 match up is supposed to play?
