Frilling and Marks.

Both So., and has beaten Cossou last season.

Frilling is now seeded and Marks.. Hope Natasha does better next season!

And I think Will also got 2 teams (dbl), with Boonstra and with Embree.

Venise Chan, Washington

Kristy Frilling, Notre Dame
Chelsey Gullickson, Georgia
Maria Mosolova, Northwestern
Anastasia Petukhova, Fresno State
Caitlin Whoriskey, Tennessee

Doubles

1. Caitlin Whoriskey and Natalie Pluskota, Tennessee
2. Lindsay Burdette and Hilary Barte, Stanford
3. Kristy Frilling and Kali Krisik, Notre Dame
4. Andrea Remynse and Yasmin Schnack, UCLA

Caitlin Whoriskey has the distinction of earning a berth with two different partners. She and Natalie Pluskota are the No. 1 seeds, and Whoriskey and Maria Sorbello are ranked tenth.
She can only pick one partner right?

Re: Tournament; NCAA 2010 SINGLES

Can someone please explain how/why Cao got the automatic Ivy bid over Bartlett? Bartlett beat then #20 Newman and went undefeated in Ivy play, while Cao's best win was over #30-something, and she lost to Vicky Brook from Yale. It doesn't make any sense to me. Also, Bartlett was Ivy Player of the Year, not that that would factor into the selection at all.

AND, you didn't even mention:
Hilary Bartlett (P) def. Holly Cao (H) 6-1, 6-3

The ONLY thing I can think of is that Cao has a higher ranking (73) than Bartlett (78)

Serena Williams
Victoria Azarenka Venus Williams
Sloane Stephens Christina McHale

So, wait a second, the NCAA has given automatic NCAA Singles bids to among others Northwestern State's #3 player and Army's #5 player?? You have to love those ITA rankings. I don't know whether to or

To be fair, Cao also beat Bartlett (6-2, 6-1) in the non-conference match back in February. And that matters because the NCAA selects the highest ranked player in each conference solely based on the ITA rankings, no regard to conference record, etc.

Interesting point. Not sure about your "among others" mind: these two are an entirely different species from the AQs who earned their rankings by beating good players.

Mendoza's and Rubesova's records. Both unbeaten in dual play: is that enough in itself to get a ranking? Mendoza's results much the less impressive of the two, and she must have an unrecorded loss, as she played in a consolation draw without seeming to have played in the main draw.

Yeah, don't get me wrong - I have no problems what so ever with someone like Jenni Heinser getting an auto-bid. She is almost a prototype for why the auto-bid system is in place and is certainly deserving. But when you starting handing out auto-bids to players who aren't #1 on their own team, I start to wonder. And in Mendoza's case, where she wasn't even voted 1st or 2nd team all-Patriot League (5 of her Army teammates were), the flaws in the system are quite apparent.

Re: Tournament; NCAA 2010 SINGLES

Anyway, my condolences to Yasmin.

Seeded 6th and meets may be the best singles #2 in the nation (better than Cossou now, considering that shocking loss to

Mathews. Well there's Dy, of course ), Secerbegovic

Yasmin should've met Hein, to resolve that NCAA 2nd round, unfinished match

And Cossou! Tough luck, 2nd round against Falconi She was the perennial elite 8, say like Mexico in the World Cup

(they ALWAYS go to the 2nd round)

I also was hoping Ramos vs Mosolova rematch

AND! WHY DOES HEIN AND PETUKHOVA, EASILY MY FAVORITE 2 PLAYERS, MEET 1ST?????? UNFAIR!!!

Along with Frilling vs Bek, easily the best 1st match.

Re: Tournament; NCAA 2010 SINGLES

1st QTR. LOADED.

2nd QTR.

BARTE HAS GREAT CHANCE AT LAST TO REACH ELITE 8 !!

3rd QTR.

Sanchez will have no problem reaching the semi. I don't see

anyone bothering her..

4th QTR.

IF Schnack beats Secerbegovic...she beat Juricova at Cal Invite and was trailing like 4-5

in thelast meeting.

And Dy meeting Thongdach...funny
