Re: Describe your tennis game

im 6 foot so i have a pretty great first serve, i like to do the one out wide..well that's on the duece side..
on the add side..my serve is pretty messy...but i guess kinda decent

second sereve....i just do a week top spin serve cause i dont wanna double fault.....

im not a power hitter, i just like to maneuver the ball around...
i dont hit winners, i just rally til they give up...im a very good retriever..
occasionally i will add a dink drop shot which are surprisingly successfull..
i like when people try to lob me because i can always reach it :P

forehand is very loosey goosey for me so that's why i dont like hitting so hard...
much rather prefer my two handed backhand, that's the only power shot i have, i cant do a down the line like jelena though

i do too many slices though because i dont wanna hit out...

Re: Describe your tennis game

I am a power baseliner. The way you win shots against me is bring me to the net or come to the net yourself. Or slice to my forehand side and come to the net.

My first serve is average, i get a lot of aces but that is just because it's really well placed. I used to get a lot of pace but i hurt my right shoulder and i try not to go for that much anymore. But i have been working on a new serve that isn't as flat but can get a lot of pace. I'll see how that works out My second serve is too ambitious at the moment. It's a very good kick serve that goes to the FOREHAND on both the DEUCE court and the AD court.

My best shot is my backhand, although the last time i played i was getting a lot of my points thanks to my backhand. I hit very flat when i am playing well but i do start to spin everything in when i am less confident.(Serena ) I am very good at moving around the court espiecally moving forward for dropshots. Moving right is probably my weakness

My volleys suck My slice are inconsistent.

I play like a female

Re: Describe your tennis game

when i'm on, i'm on...i have a decent all around game which has improved dramatically over the summer, a first serve that has added some mphs this summer and has grown increasingly reliable.....but i tend to be a headcase. once the wheels fall off, it can get ugly....i even cried once on court after losing a tiebreak.

i look so fine, i look so sexy even with my face smashed up on the plexi

Re: Describe your tennis game

my serve is kinda weak...probably like 65 ish mph...

I'm all power...both sides...power baseliner...go for the lines, aggressive and a fast mover

My backhand will break down hard under pressure as I hit it pretty flat..

My forehand has a lot of topspin

Strong at the net

and I can't drop shot if my life depends on it

cause when a heart breaks, it never breaks even.....

Do you worry too much about double-faulting?

Re: Describe your tennis game

I'm 6'4", so I have a big first serve. My second serve is OK, but I sometimes grip my racquet too tight because I'm afraid of double-faulting. I come in behind my first serve ALL THE TIME. My backhand is more reliable off the ground than my forehand, although I usually hit more winners from the forehand side. My forehand volleys are good, but if any of you have a backhand volley for sale, please let me know, because mine is beyond horrible.

Re: Describe your tennis game

I don't even have a backhand volley, lol. Well, I don't have one the goes deep in the court. I can play the one handed touch/drop volley, the two handed angled cross court volley and the two handed drop volley too but I don't actually have like, a power volley. lawl.

Haha. Lol. I remember that day. Was really weird.

Luckily I sorta found an in-between-go-to place. I hit with more pace but still have the tendency to play weird touch shots! Especially when someone drop shots me on the backhand side, It's weird how I can stop myself just in time and play the most shortest ball EVER, like it was such a deadly slice and it was also consistent. Weird.

Also does anyone find that some shots lack what your other shots have? eg for me right now, My backhand is really consistent but when I get a put-away shot, eg drive volley, short mid-court ball, I tend to miss it. But my forehand, which right now is terribly inconsistent, I get a short ball and I really rarely flunk it...weird.

I deleted my post because I meant to post it in the other thread, I had two windows open and chose the wrong one.

That racquet has a completely different feel than other racquets though, it took a while to get used to.

I'm 5'3 so my serve is , maybe 2 double faults per service game for me
On a good day, forehand DTL and Backhand DTL are my favorite shots
On a bad day, i will be the biggest pusher you have ever seen
I move really well side to side, not so much forward and back.
My backhand volley is non-existent , and i couldn't hit an overhead if my life depended on it

Re: Describe your tennis game

I think I have am a quite a mixed player. I prefer to play very aggressively, but I can be on the defensive every now and again, but I don't like it too much.

My serve is appauling, despite my height (6'4"). Sometimes I can get some brilliant aces that are well placed and extremely powerful, but the majority of the time I just try ensure it goes in. If I land a really poor serve, I try come in to volley.
My forehand is a very good shot. I prefer hitting very flat shots, but I can use a hell of a lot of top spin or slice if I need to slow down. I also like hitting inside out forehands. However, when my forehand is off, it often lands long or wide. I try hit some sharp angles and I try to use a forehand dropshot a lot as it tricks my opponents a lot because power they except my forehand to go deep.
My backhand is my strongest shot when it's on. I can hit some very sharp angles, but I can go deep as well. When it's on, it's my favourite shot to hit. When it's off, it almost always lands in the net, so to avoid that I have to push the ball back into play I also use a double-handed backhand. I've mastered the backhand slice and drop shot, although I favour my forehand slices and drop shots. I can hit a few inside out backhands, however they're not as powerful.
My net game is strong. I can stretch as well as dive. I prefer the baseline though, but I feel comfortable at the net.
My smashes are good, but I'd rather hit a swing volley or regular forehand.
My footwork isn't great. I can run fast, and I can slide, but I can find myself falling over.
