2016 NCAA Championships Discussion

ALRIGHT GUYS/GALS! We come to close on the regular season dual match / conference championships matches and into the real post season matches, the NCAA's. The new rankings came out, as pasted below, which should serve as the seeding go to for the NCAA's.

I really wanted UF to not be ranked #1, I always like it to go in as the underdog, but I remember some people said in the early season that UF is the one to beat and the ranking now right sort of reflect that crystal ball. I think a number of teams in the top 10, counting Stanford, all have a chance. What are your at least top 8 finishers who'll make it towards the quarters, and at most your semi finalists without looking at the draw for now?

1 76.41 University of Florida 3
2 75.48 California 1
3 74.46 North Carolina 2
4 67.6 University of Georgia 4
5 65.86 Ohio State University 6
6 65.32 Vanderbilt University 5
7 60.27 University of Miami (Florida) 7
8 53.27 Pepperdine 9
9 51.91 Duke University 8
10 51.47 Auburn University 12
11 48.55 University of Michigan 10
12 48.13 Stanford 13
13 47.89 University of South Carolina 11
14 47.23 University of Virginia 16
15 46.67 Oklahoma State University 14
16 41.65 Georgia Tech 15
17 39.34 LSU 20
18 38.97 Texas A&M University 18
19 38.75 Texas Tech University 17
20 36.78 University of Southern California 19
21 36.74 Mississippi State University 21
22 34.43 Arizona State University 22
23 33.65 University of Kentucky 23
24 31.34 University of Texas at Austin 24
25 29.04 UCLA 25

Re: 2016 NCAA Championships Discussion

If the rankings are the seedings, here are the potential matchups.

1. Florida
16. Georgia Tech

8. Pepperdine
9. Duke

5. Ohio State
12. Stanford

4. Georgia
13. South Carolina

3. North Carolina
14. Virginia

6. Vanderbilt
11. Michigan

7. Miami (Florida)
10. Auburn

15. Oklahoma State
2. California

Potential storylines include a Florida-Stanford semi-final, and a potential Battle of the Bay in the Championships.

I have suspicion that STAN will get a higher seed for the NCAA's i think.

Could happen, given that Zhao was missing for most of the season, and Stanford beat an unbeaten team on her return.

I think this season we'll also get more unranked teams into the sweet 16 than in the past. It will be interesting to see where they send some of those teams outside of the top 16.

Does Tulsa have a rep for w. tennis? Or was it more facilities/arrangements that gave them the nod for hosting?

Re: 2016 NCAA Championships Discussion

I actually think it's one of the more balanced brackets we've had in recent years. Some sections are certainly stronger than others, but there is nothing outrageous.

The Florida/Stanford match is obviously one to circle in the third round, but before that, I'm intrigued by UCLA/Ohio State, USC/Pepperdine, South Carolina/Georgia Tech, and even Northwestern/UNC.

This should be fun!

I believe these games will start on May 13 - if you know whether any of them are online, please post a link to the matches.

Re: 2016 NCAA Championships Discussion

The rankings come out tomorrow so we'll see how they matched up with the seeds.

Will there be a bracket challenge this year?

Were at large spots given, or does that come later (I seem to have heard somebody on Twitter asking about that)?
