Re: Tipping- Ideas for 2008

I was thinkig about three issues.

1)In order to avoid the lately reoccurring situation , where most people picked the same winners, I would like to suggest the following:

In the situation where there is a match between a seeded and non seeded player, a pick for the none seeded in case of victory should be awarded by doubling the points.
This mechanism will without a doubt spread the variety of picks each round.

2) Each round should be called by the #days of play in the tourney, not "first round without qualies, with qualies" etc., like in the suicide game.

3) Because the picks are public, it is very important before each day to see the rankings, allowing to take them into consideration in picking the winners. Because of this, in case of inability to do so by the manager, he should find helpers to this task.

Re: Tipping- Ideas for 2008

before reading and realating to what ronim wrote i just want to say that i hope to see everybody again next year...

my most importent thing to change is something with the bonus points because the bonus that players get seems too close for me (winner 40 pts and RU gets 35...) but i don't want to make the bonus too high soo please help me...
i also want to change the points system a little (and it's really need to be little because we have to keep this game concept that at least in the first few rounds you get one point for one win...) and i want to change it in order that newcomer players can really progress into to top... (i took the jean case as a case of that thing) - i thought maybe to increase the bonus in the grand slam or to do a diffrente bonus for tier I and tier II and III.......

Fill In The Draw 2007:

Set Point 2007:
W: Berlin, Stanford, Los Angeles, Luxembourg;

Tipping 2007:

1. your first idea is food but i really want to make it a simple game... your idea also make it a little like set point and i want to reamain to thing that in the first few round one point means one correct pick.... but from and quarter or maybe only from the semis this thing is very good...!!! you know what i thing that we need to do this from the quarterfinal and in GS from the fourth round... tell me what you think.....

2. your second idea was what we used in the begining but what happen is that people didn't have enough time to post thier picks....
the diffrence is only in the first round.... in the first round i know the matches from saturday so this give everyone two days to pick.... but if we will do it by days than it will give only 1 day to pick because the oop for it's day is anounnced a day before.....

3. wow great idea...!! and it will really help me if i won't be able to send the rankings....
please if some players can commit to this and when i won't be able to do the rankings i will let one of them know and they will do it for me.... if someone can do this please tell me...!!

thanks for your great ideas...!!!

1)I can see the resemblance to the Idea in the "set point" game.
But my proposal was to keep it simple as you said you wanted it.
Only the matches with ranked player of each tournament as published in WTA site, 8 in regular up to 32 in GS should reward double the regular points if the not ranked player should win.
For matches between two ranked players there should be no double points.
The reason for doing this
1) to make it simple
2) to try and make the tipping players pick unseed players and
look for surprises, and by this getting to the end stages with
a bigger points difference between the players.
3) to reward participants to pick the underdog.

If you would apply this Idea only at the latter stages of the
tournament, chance to find unseed players would be slim.

2)I only meant to give a more unified name for each round of pick.
Players could still pick matches for the day after next if
already published, only call them by the days of the the
tournament.

Anyway, just Ideas you can use them, change them or not, as you wish.

1. you know what you convinced me i think i'll go for that you are right this is a very good idea....!!!
2. and the other idea is good too and i think i use the days system in each tournament from the second round to the end.....!!

thanks for your good ideas....!!!

Re: Tipping- Ideas for 2008

maybe you could change the ranking points which you earn at the tournaments.
I think for a win at a slam you have to earn more points than for a win at tier 2 or 3 for exxample.

Are you sure that it's more difficult to foresee wins of higher ranked players than lower ones?

I for myself find it easier to handle top 50 players from tier 1 and 2 than lower 100 ranked. Of course surprises happen in all tiers, but I'm not talking about them.

Re: Tipping- Ideas for 2008

from my point of view, things you stay as they are right now. maybe some corrections concerning the scoring points should be done, but the rest is okay.

My 3 favorite players are: Patty Schnyder ~ Roger Federer ~ Martina Hingis

Other players: Belinda Bencic ~ Kim Clijsters ~ Timea Bacsinszky ~ Elena Dementieva ~ Stefanie Voegele ~ Anna Kournikova ~ Maria Sharapova ~ Vera Zvonareva ~ Daniela Hantuchova ~ Elena Bovina ~ Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova ~ Monica Seles ~ Jennifer Capriati ~ Serena and Venus Williams ~ Klara Koukalova

Re: Tipping- Ideas for 2008

In this thread you can ask if you want to run a tournament...
or if you have any questions....

Im going to do a new point system... I think you have to earn more points for winning a grand slam than winning a tier 4....
